Tyler is the owner and head coach of CrossFit Hierarchy. CrossFit completely changed his approach to both training and life outside the gym–he has seen firsthand how physical strength translates into mental and emotional strength. Tyler has been coaching CrossFit in the DC area for over 7 years and loves helping people achieve beyond what they ever thought was possible. He loves ring dips and hates chocolate.

IKAIKA KUA-NACHOR

Ikaika is strong. Literally–Ikaika means ‘strength’ in Hawaiian. His road to fitness started in high school, where he played football and developed a love of team sports. He discovered CrossFit when he moved to DC in 2013, and has been coaching ever since. He loves snatches and hates beer.

CHRISTINE ROBINSON

Growing up as a soccer and basketball player, Christine has always loved being part of a community that pushed fitness and competition. She became addicted to Crossfit while working with the military overseas and immediately became a member of the local box when she got home. She loves empowering athletes at all levels to realize their full potential. She loves T2B and hates pickles.

XYLENA REED

Xylena has been active and competitive her whole life starting with track and field in middle school. While in college she tried every intramural sport she could find (soccer, softball, volleyball) and continued playing city league soccer through graduate school. She also spent many years doing less conventional sports like cycling, kayaking and rock climbing. Xylena started crossfit in late 2014 after a fractured ankle kept her from soccer and climbing and has never looked back. As a coach, her aim is to help members reach their goals, whether they are to get stronger and faster or simply to get in a good workout for the day. She loves muscle ups and hates bell peppers.


BRYAN KUPPE
Coach, CrossFit Hierarchy

Bryan spent much of his life as a three-sport athlete in Soccer, Basketball, and Lacrosse. CrossFit continues to teach him how to more efficiently move and get more value out of training. It has built a love affair with fitness that he is humbled to share with the Hierarchy community.

Justin’s love and passion for movement and physical activity stems from his career as an Elementary PE teacher. Having found CrossFit in 2016, he knew this was not only something he loved doing, but was determined to help facilitate the learning process so every person has the tools to unlock their fullest potential. In other words, help everyone get STRONG and learn why and how it happened! He also loves Pokémon and hates tomatoes (like a lot).


MICHAEL PONDER
Coach, CrossFit Hierarchy

Ponder found CrossFit in 2007 while on his first deployment to Iraq. Since then, he has been drawn to not only the competitive nature of the culture, but even more so to the community aspect. He earned his Level 1 in 2010, and since then his passion for coaching continued to grow. Ponder asserts that he’s not so much interested in how much weight you can lift now, but more about making sure you can walk up stairs when your 80.

Sara has been teaching yoga for almost 9 years and doing CrossFit for about one year. What she loves most about yoga is how she feels flexible and free in her body, but also clear-minded and happier after. For Sara, yoga and CrossFit are a perfect combo. CrossFit has made her stronger, and yoga has made her more self-aware, mobile, and aligned. Yoga enables her to approach CrossFit healthily, execute better form, and avoid injury. It also helps her to calm the fuck down and not sweat the small stuff. She loves burpees and hates sea urchin.
